    Blog: http://chrysti.wordpress.com/

Chrysti (Christy Hydeck) is an emerging mixed media artist whose work is collected by individuals and companies across the globe.   Her quirky, one-of-a-kind art has been featured in calendars, books, galleries, coffee houses, retail stores and advertisements as well as being published in both print and digital magazines. In 2004, she chose to pursue her life long dream of creating full-time. With this satisfaction came the realization that this was only the beginning and not the culmination of her creative vision.

Considered an outsider artist, Chrysti lives with Bipolar Disorder, and Tourette’s Syndrome. Her work is often very personal, expressing her passion for children, family and animals as well as showing her love of whimsy, words and all things odd.

In addition, Chrysti teaches mixed-media workshops and is a contributor to Cloth, Paper, Scissors magazine.  She has established and maintains several online stores and communities.  She is also a promising amateur photographer.

It is Chrysti’s belief, that everyone has an artist within. It is her mission, to help inspire others find and express their own creative selves.

    Lisa Kaus

    LISA KAUS

    website:  http://www.lisakaus.com/index.htm

    Blog:  http://lisakaus.blogspot.com/

Lisa Kaus has been a mixed media artist for close to 20 years. She can't remember a time when she wasn't working on some artistic aspect in her life. Within the past couple of years she has rediscovered collage after a several year hiatus. She has been a paperaholic since she was a child and it only seemed natural to pursue it in a big way.

Incorporating a variety of mediums into each piece adds a wonderful spontaneous element to her work. She has a special fondness for old time-worn elements with some historical purpose. Using these elements in her assemblage work, creates a special and unique interaction between vintage found objects and contemporary painting. Layers upon layers evoke depth and textual interest. Whimsical birds, flowers and houses are at the root of Lisa's work. The mood is exuberant yet tranquil.

The creative process is a very intrinsic part of her work, almost ritual.
A grandiose idea is always in mind. The idea preoccupies her thoughts for a time
and then a concept emerges and are then expressed onto canvas, wood, or paper. The moment of truth arrives and a sort of battle emerges between the conscious and subconscious mind. Frustration takes over and so do furious brush strokes.
Bits of paper make their way onto the surface as do paint and crayon strokes. Then it is over, the object is complete. The subconscious mind has won, fortunately. Victories of the conscious mind usually end up in the attic, basement, or worse.

Lisa Kaus finds a great sense of satisfaction to the creative process. It is a place she calls home and is so reflective in her work.

Lisa has had her own business under the name of Lisa Kaus Art Studios for the last 11 years which features fine stationery, prints and other items as well. Her collection is sold around the country and her artwork is held in many private collections.

Growing up with an artistic mother, I was inspired to create from a young age. She taught me how to sew and provided me with paper and art supplies along with encouragement to nurture my creative juices.

In my late teens I had a passion for oil painting. Over the years I just loved to find odd things and create whatever came to my head. My favorite has always been to create gifts for others. When the shabby chic style came about I practiced painting roses until the paint actually resemble one. From there I became a decorative painter, painting old wood windows, furniture, buckets, you name it. Though all of these creative endeavors sparked my interest, it really wasn’t until I found the world of mixed media that really excited my heart for creating. From the very beginning, Art Dolls captured my interest. For me they just tickle me pink, as each take on their own personality. I have sold most of them and feel I’m a little adoption agency finding them good homes. It truly pleases my heart.

Fabric is another passion of mine. I have collected vintage laces for many years. My grandmother passed on to me many of her treasures. I love to create fun and free looking fabric collages. With my love for found objects, I discovered they mix well with dainty little laces, fabrics and fibers.

After a lifetime of creating in many different mediums, I began drawing my
own images in 2005. I knew a bit about Photoshop, so this seemed the
perfect mix. I began by combining my photography and drawings along
with scanning found objects and  textiles, and altering them in Photoshop
to end with a digital print.
Digital altering then evolved into painting on
traditional substrates in 2006, and fabric painting in late 2006/early 2007.
I've found my niche (for now anyway!) in fabric painting, and enjoy sewing
on my paintings and adding them to purses, wall quilts and art books,
as well as teaching fabric painting in workshops around the country.

I've met so many new friends while traveling and teaching, as well as online
    through my business
, and even more after I joined the blog world in
July of 2006. What fun that is. I love the interactive format that wasn't possible
with just a web site. My
blog is like writing to friends... more personal even
though I'm talking to people from all over the world. How cool is that

    KARI RAMSTROM ~ ARTSY MAMA

    Blog:  www.artsymama.blogspot.com

Kari Ramstrom is better known as ArtsyMama in the blogging world due to her popular blog of daily eye candy and inspiration on living the artful life. She is a self-taught mixed media artist/crafter and has been collecting bits and pieces from her everyday life since she was a little girl as fodder for her art. She is now greatly inspired by her own young children and has found art as a wonderfully therapeutic way to capture memories and precious moments that slip away all too quickly.

She has a passion for going to the wonderful estate sales that take place each weekend in the twin cities, where she resides. She picks up pieces of this and that left behind by previous owners, and gets inspired to create something fresh and new out of pieces of the past. Since her art time is very fleeting, she has created a lifestyle that creativity is embedded in her everyday life. She uses her home as a canvas to express and display her art and passions.

Kari has appeared in the first two issues of Artful Blogging magazine published by Somerset and recently in Country Living magazine. She also self-published a book this year based on her blog.

    BARBE SAINT JOHN

    Website:  http://www.barbesaintjohn.com/

    Blog:  http://barbesaintjohn.blogspot.com/

I am a San Francisco based mixed media artist, working with forgotten, found and repurposed materials. "Saints & Sinners®" is my online webstore featuring my showcase of one-of-a-kind mixed media art jewelry, handspun art yarns, found object assemblage and more.

After years of working mostly non-creative environments, I felt I had to allow my artistic side a chance to develop. My work is primarily about Alchemy - the transmutation of common, obscure and abandoned items into sublime creations.

I love to take the old, forgotten, discarded, broken, rusted, orphaned and things considered worthless and turn them into wearable works of art. Each tiny piece has a fragment of a story and a hint of a secret that longs to be revealed. Like an archaeologist, I hunt for these bits of treasure and discover their hidden purpose.
When combined they come to life like a phoenix rising from the ashes with a story and energy all their own. Just like the unique bits that are used to create them, every piece of art is one of a kind and cannot be duplicated.

My work has been published various publications including: Make it Mine Magazine, New Witch Magazine, “Artist Trading Cards Workshop: Create. Collect. Swap.”, “Intertwined: The Art of Handspun Yarn” and the soon to be released “Art in Motion” book.  My work has also been shown at Lovely Hearts Exhibit - Art Stream Gallery, Metallurge Gallery - Toronto, Canada, and  Art Shoe In Exhibit - Modesto Art Gallery. My jewelry is currently being sold at Worthington Gallery West – Pleasanton, CA.

I have many creative outlets and inspirations, so my art studio is as cluttered as possible with lots of eye candy just like a Magpies cage -- art by friends, vintage jewelry & imagery, dolls, rhinestones, bones,  fiber, vintage fabric, papers, found items, old tins, books, paints, sequins, and anything else that catches my eye.

My wonderful & equally creative husband and I live with our herd of spoiled cats, one unbalanced (but adorable!) Chihuahua and a hundred+ Godzilla figures.

I like to think of myself not simply as an artist, but as an interpreter - a storyteller who uses words, paper, paint, canvas, and found objects as a narrative vehicle. While the drawings in my work are all original, the photographs I use are either my own, or vintage images from my personal collection. Ideas and inspiration for my western themed art are everywhere around me. I live my passion, right here in beautiful little Cody, Wyoming. A cowgirl I see at the rodeo, an engrossing book from the Museum Store at the Buffalo Bill Historical Center, the rhyme and rhythym of a cowboy poet, a nonchalant Yellowstone buffalo - all have been the impetus for a new creation.

Ever since I was a small child, I've been fascinated with Cowgirls and the Wild West.  Dale Evans. Annie Oakley. Calamity Jane.  These spunky, adventurous Cowgirls, were so legendary that their stories are still being told today in books and movies - why not channel their stories through art? That is exactly what I love to do. Sometimes I interpret the Cowgirl as a temptress. Other times she symbolizes friendship and the feminine awakening in each of us.  She may show up beside a handsome cowboy on a canvas collage, inside a shadowbox with her horse at her side, or alone somewhere in time or space. No matter what medium I choose for a creation, the Cowgirl easily and happily adapts to my art.

My most recent inspiration comes from old photos of lovely screen starlets from the twenties and thirties. I find that if I immerse myself in their eyes as I sketch them, losing all sense of time and place, we become one. At that moment, as if by magic, the former "starlets" transform into cowgirls who are eager to tell their stories. It is truly one of the most thrilling, gratifying moments an artist can experience - that ephiphany that I have created exactly what was meant to be.
     ARTIST DEB TROTTER'S BIOGRAPHY

Deb grew up in the 1950's watching nightly westerns with her family and fondly remembers playing Cowboys and Indians under the tall Carolina oak trees. Times have certainly changed, but Deb never outgrew her longing to be a Cowgirl. Now a resident of historic Cody, Wyoming, she has fulfilled her life long dream of living "out west." While Deb may never ride the open range or rope those beefy steers, she still considers herself a Cowgirl - if only in spirit. Her household includes:  her husband, John; her teenage son, Whit; and their "pack" of four mischevious dogs - Elmo (an "Alpha" Shi Tzu), Arwen (a sweet Wirehaired Pointing Griffon),Outlaw Josey Wales (a lunatic Brittany Spaniel), and Nick (a paranoid, overly obsessed English Setter). When weather permits, northwest Wyoming is full of wonderful places to explore, and that's exactly what Deb and her family do. Who could ask for more?

The arts have always played an important role in Deb's life. She holds degrees in both English and Musical Theatre and has worked as an educator, arts administrator, theatre actress, stage director, and as an announcer for ESPN TV. Encouraged and by artists, friends, and family - and inspired by classes she took at her first art retreat, Deb began her business, Cowboy's Sweetheart, in 2003.

Deb was an invited participant in the 2004 Buffalo Bill Historical Center Patron's Ball Exhibition and Sale in Cody, Wyoming. Her work has been honored with the "People's Choice" Award at the 2004 Nicolaysen Museum Show in Casper, Wyoming, and as "First Place in Mixed Media Art" at the Cody Country Art League's 2005 Art Show.

Deb's western-themed art has been published in Cloth Paper Scissors, Somerset Studio Magazine and Somerset Gallery,  Belle Armoire Magazine, as well as Lynne Perrella's most recent book, Beyond Paper Dolls. Cowboy's Sweetheart artwork has been exhibited in various museums, galleries, and art shows throughout the United States, as well as in Germany and New Zealand. Deb's work is represented by a number of shops and galleries in the western states.

    SUSAN TUTTLE

    Website:  http://www.ilkasattic.com

    Blog:  http://www.ilkasattic.blogspot.com/

Susan is a self-taught, mixed media artist who resides in a small, rural town in the Midcoast region of Maine. She enjoys creating collage, assemblage, and altered art with found imagery and recycled objects. Susan also explores abstract intuitive painting on huge canvases, often with bold colors and patterns, and has a newfound love for creating digital art.

She's had formal training in the areas of Flute Performance and Music Education, having obtained degrees from both Rutgers University--Mason Gross School of the Arts, and the Boston Conservatory. Susan taught K-12 public school music over a span of ten years, in both the Greater Boston area and in her current home state of Maine, but her most recent embracement of the arts is in the visual realm. She says, "I am drawn to color, texture, and design, and enjoy playing with various mediums to express whatever happens to be in my heart and mind in the moment. I must make art--it seems to be in my blood--it brings me much joy--and oftentimes provides a safe haven where I can work out life’s challenges. The process of each creation can often feel like "Christmas morning" to me--I get so lost in what I am doing--it is my passion!"

"I feel a calling to put my work out into the Universe--to create it and then let it go--as it was meant to be shared. I feel privileged to be the medium through which each piece can flow--from my heart, mind and hands to the receiver, whom I believe was meant to have it all along. In this way I can make small differences in the world, and potentially, a big difference in someone's life."

Susan's art has been exhibited in galleries throughout New England, and can be found in private collections throughout the United States and abroad. Her work has been published in Somerset Studio, many Stampington & Company special publications, and ARTitude Zine. Susan's first book, Exhibition 36; A Gallery of Mixed-Media Inspiration, will be published by North Light Books in November, 2008. You can view more of her work at www.ilkasattic.com and www.ilkasattic.blogspot.com.
