In the fall of 2006, ZNE Fondante (founding) Member JoAnnA Pierotti was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. JoAnnA was not the first, nor the second, or even the third ZNE member that has had to deal with the diagnosis of Breast Cancer during the past few years.

When speaking to JoAnnA the day following her diagnosis, Chel asked her ~ "What do you need right now, to help lift your spirits as you gear up for surgery and chemo, and the fight of your life?"

JoAnnA's answer was simple and immediate. She wanted to grow closer to God and she wanted to make the rest of her life - be it long or short, come what may - count. And then she said:

It is from this request that ZNE's Live Pink program was born. The program is in honor of JoAnnA and all the women in the world whose lives have been impacted by breast cancer.

The program works like this: Artists create miniature pieces of original artwork that is given to Live Pink coordinators in hospitals, support centers, hospices, and other Breast Cancer related programs - for direct distribution to Breast Cancer patients and their families. The artists donate their art and the coordinators donate their time distributing the artwork.

This program is for all the JoAnnA's in the world. The Live Pink program is about inspiration, caring, the opportunity for everyone to make a difference with their lives, and for every individual diagnosed with breast cancer to know that their life does make a difference.
