ZNE Chic and Shabby Debuts Next Month!
~ ZNE Style Tryers Never Die - They Just Move on to a New Style! ~
Have you seen the bumper sticker slogan, above? Well if not, watch out 'cuz it's true! We can't just finish a Styel Try at the end of the month, we must move on to another style! So, sure enough - get ready for April, when ZNE will be Proud to be Chic and Shabby! Click on the banner below to go to the ZNE Chic and Shabby Style Try home page.

Credit goes to Anita Richardson for the fairy cake assemblage on the right side of the banner above.
During the month of April, we'll be encouraging all members to add ZNE CHIC to their listing titles if their items are pink or lavendar, floral or quilted, mosaic, or otherwise lovely, chic, and shabby! As with all Style Trys we will be heavily promoting the style and drawing as much attention to our listings as possible.
We do always open the discussion board and gallery a month early so that people can begin to get ready for the following month's Style Try. So click on either box below to access the Chic and Shabby ZNE Gallery and Discussion Boards - join in now!
If you haven't tried creating Chic and Shabby styles yet, April will be the month to do it. ZNE Founding Member Anita Richardson will be providing us with a fun art workshop to get us all going, and another generous ZNE Founding Member - Tiffany Jane Marshall - will be our featured member interview, and she is going to give us a fabulous tour of her gorgeous house! And, as if all that weren't enough, we are going to have a tea party live chat extraordinaire! So, this month, party harty Country/Prim/Whimsy style, but not TOO hard - because April is just around the corner! (More info on all three can be found, later in this issue of The ZNE Scene.)
Featured Member Interviews!
It's true! As is very obvious by now - ZNE's Style Try has hit the ground running! One really exciting element of this new monthly program is the fact that it affords us an opportunity to learn a lot more about our members and their individual skills, talents, and style preferences! For instance, every month we will have at least one Featured Member Interview with a fellow ZNE member who is well versed in that month's particular style. For instance, this month we have two fabulous featured member interviews, with two fellow members who are experts in creating Prim and Whimsical art pieces. Please take a moment to read through and savor their interview pages. The art alone is well worth the cyber trip. And each artist was generous and thoughtful in their interview answers as well. I am absolutely delighted to point you to March 2007's debut Featured Member Interviews, with Nicol Sayre and Nancy Malay.

Future Style Try Fabulousness!
And we have lots more goodies planned! As I mentioned earlier, next month in conjunction with:

We have lots of goodies planned, including a fabulous Featured Member Interview with Tiffany Jane Marshall ~
Her Interview will go Live on April 1!

And that's not all, in May we'll be Style Tryin' Magazine Collage:

And the very talented Queen of Magazine Collage herself, Cinda Rae Oliverio, will be our Featured Member Interview. Woo Hoo!
Cinda Rae Oliverio's Interview will go Live on May 1!

Visit The Spirit of ZNE!

Also this month, we are debuting a wonderful new program that celebrates our incredible members. Spirito Di ZNE promises to be one of our most special and endearing programs. Each day we will feature a different member. The members being featured are selected through an online randomizer process.
This is a fabulous way to get to know your fellow members, and get to know - The Spirit of ZNE! Members are encouraged to leave comments for one another directly on the Spirito Di ZNE blog, and there are fabulous prizes each month! This, like most of ZNE's activities is a dynamic interactive program and you do not want to miss out!
Who is featured today? Who will be featured tomorrow? An artist you have long admired? Someone new you'd love to meet? Maybe it will be you! Check out Spirito Di ZNE, today. Click on the Spirito Di ZNE Banner above, to learn more!
Many thanks this month go to Kim Ayers of Dirty Roses for donating this month's Spirit of ZNE award, in conjunction with Spirito Di ZNE.

Another Auction Template!
And, as promised, our Free-For-Members auction template library is growing! Every month we will add a new template to the pot. Click on the link below in order to access the ZNE auction template home page, where you can find last month's template as well as this month's template, the Prim Launch template. Enjoy!

(PS - Don't forget, this is a member password protected page. If you need the Universal Password to access the page, log in to the discussion boards to access the password, here.)
Oh, and if you think that the last two templates were fun - just you wait - they keep getting better! Next month a fellow ZNEer - the extraordinary website and auction template designer, Avalon Rose Design - is donating an auction template for our Chic and Shabby Style Try Launch in April! Lucky me, I've had a chance to preview the template, and it is absolutely gorgeous. The Avalon Rose Design auction template will be available for use beginning on April 1, 2007 - and as always, it is completely free for ZNE members!

Free Lucite Slides for Art!
This month, ZNE Member Julie Jacques is also offering up some free and quirky art supplies to her fellow ZNE Members.
Specifically, she has 1/16" thick clear lucite Slides available to use as for altered jewelry, art, or anything else that you can think of!

Julia is generously offering these slides to any ZNE Member who might be interested.
She would be happy to send them to you in exchange for some other goodie that you might have to share, or, for free with postage reimbursement.
To learn more about Julia's offer - check the Exclusive Member Benefit page, here.
(Remember, you need the ZNE Universal Member Password to access the page above!)
Thanks Julia!
Care to Share?

Julia's donation and offer to barter her slides made us realize that ZNE was overdue for having a discussion thread dedicated to trading and bartering all those supplies. Click on the banner above and scroll down to find the discussion forum dedicated to bartering and trades of art supplies - and enjoy!
(But before you barter away everything - be sure and check out our Ephemera Hera program which is once again active ~ more info on Ephemera Hera later in this newsletter!)
Prim Style
Boy oh Boy! We have some incredible workshops planned for our members this month! In conjunction with our Prim Style Launch this month, two incredibly talented members - Denise Davis of Sasssafras Hill Primitives, and Jo Ellen Dismukes of Lacey Jane Primitives have generously offered up workshops to help us all learn some new techniques in the art of creating Prim style goodies! Their workshops are live on the website as of March 1, 2007 - so be sure and check out their workshops, below. AWESOME STUFF!

Check out the Workshop Page!
ZNE WORKSHOPS
Be sure and check out our main workshop page for information on both online and in person workshops, available to ZNE Members. We have a lot going on, and a lot of opportunities to get your hands dirty and glittery. Check 'em out and go for it!
Member Taught Workshops
And, as we mentioned last month - we are finally getting our extensive Member Taught Workshops calendar in order. We are taking submissions right now and expect to have an awesome calendar full of wonderful opportunities for extended artsy education - soon! So, if you are a ZNE member who is teaching a class or workshop, anywhere, in person or on line - let us know about it by submitting your class info here. ZNE looks forward to helping to promote your workshops!
ZNE K.I.S. Workshop ~ Call for Instructors!

Big Huge kudos go to Robin Bartoletti who stepped in and taught January's K.I.S. workshop in the eBay ACEO boards. She did an incredible job, and the glittery artwork that resulted from the workshop was a joy to behold! Click on the eggs below to see the workshop, which Robin archived on her art blog. (Not to mention, she offers up this fun image of eggs in a hand for us to use - on that same blog!)

Last month however, the K.I.S. (Keep It Simple) workshop went on hiatus. Members of ACEO were definitely enjoying the workshops and they are a wonderful way to promote collage and altered art, and spread some glitter and glue joy. SO, would you be willing to be a guest instructor for a workshop?
All you have to do is break down the process of creating an ACEO (ATC) that features collage or altered art - into 3 - 4 steps, and you tackle one step each week during the month. Every Sunday, you post a new step so that at the end of the month all the participants have a finished product. The workshop is meant to be paced slowly and it is a lot of fun!
If you might be willing to work with some fellow artists by leading a workshop - please let Chel know, by clicking here to email her.
Thank you!
Coming Up!
Are you excited about more online workshops? Well, you should be - just look what we have in the works:
Debuts April 1, 2007:

Debuts May 1, 2007:

And of course, stay tuned for More, More, More!
Ephemera Hera

Hooray! Ephemera Hera is back! There have been some changes made to the program, it is modeled after a "pass it along" box type swap. With this group of incredible artist members, who wouldn't want to receive that box! Any ZNE member can sign up for the program - including YOU! So click on the banner above to sign up now - and then sit back and wait for a great big box of ~free~ goodies to arrive on your doorstep! WOW!
Many thanks go to ZNE Founding Member Miranda Sullivan, who will be acting as the communications coordinator for Ephemera Hera. Thanks Miranda!!

ZNE Zaftig Book!
Who remembers the ZNE Zaftig Book?
That's right, its our very own chunky book! And guess what - those of you who participated in the second round - your books are going in the mail, this week! The first few sets of pages trickled in with months passing in between - so last week I went ahead and taught a ZNE Altered Everything ~ Everything Altered workshop with a dozen local ZNE members participating - and I forced them all to create 18 pages of chunky book heaven - EACH!

Look at them hard at work! And the end result? Some really incredible books! So if you participated last time, then keep an eye out on your mail box this month, a very sweet Zaftig Book treat is on its way.
And if you missed out on the first two ZNE chunky books, its time to make book three! So read up on the instructions, get your pages ready, and send 'em off!
Cercles D' Ame

WOWZA! We've got two fantastic groups of members a-circle-journaling away right now, via the ZNE Cercles D'Ame project. They are already beginning to upload some of their front cover artwork in the Cercles D'Ame gallery - which you can see by clicking on the logo above.
Sad that you missed out, or - raring to go for a second round even though this one isn't even finished? No worries! Sign ups for our next round of Cercles D'Ame will open up a the end of this month. Our next Cercle D'Ame theme will be "Strong Women." Surely you don't want to miss out on that!
If you want to be notified right away when sign ups open again, make sure you are signed up for ZNE Alertz - the best way to stay up to date on all our activities, dates, and deadlines.
Many thanks, as always - go to our fearless and talented Cercles D'Ame Coordinator, Laurie Blau Marshall. Thanks so much Laurie!
March Theme Week - This Sunday!

We have lots of fun theme week news for you! First of all, the March theme is SPRING! Next, the listing date is this Sunday (!) March 4 - so hop to it! Third, you can find the guidelines for listing - by clicking here.
Finally ~ Don't forget that in addition to our regular prizes - we now have "listing number prizes" too!
For the first listing, and every 5th qualified ZNE Theme Week listing thereafter, the sellers will recieve a free image jpg download from the fabulous Miss Mary! WOW!
So, for making our theme weeks extra wonderful and fun - many thanks go to:
Our Theme Week Coordinator, Emma Fashokun:

And Miss Mary:

I can't wait to see your "springy" listings!
PS - Whoops! Did you win a prize last month? There were three winners of Miss Mary's images last month. I know that at least one person contact Mary directly and go ttheir prize. Hooray! Someone else contacted me and asked about a prize. It is with great sadness that I must admit - I lost all the information! I am not sure who contacted me about winning for listing first - was it you? Please contact me again, and I'll make sure to get you the info you need to redeem your prize. I know who listed 5th, but not who listed 15th. If you happened to notice that your theme week listing was second from last, last month - email me and let me know.
And I promise I will keep better track of our Miss Mary winners this month! REALLY!
Guess The ZNE Artist
Guess the ZNE Artist!
Ok folks, time to put your indentify-the-artist thinking caps on. Check out this ethereal little ACEO! Do you know who created this fun little piece?

(The artwork above is copyright protected by the original artist. Please don't copy or duplicate!)
Email your guess to Chel, and the first person with the right answer will recieve this beautiful collage sheet, created by the very talented ZNE Founding Member - Happy_Energy:

And big congratulations go to Kristin Hubick, who won last month's Guess the Artist, by correctly guessing that image below was created by Tracey Ann Finlay. Kristin won a $10 gift certificate to spend at Joanna Banana Designs store on eBay, and Joanna matched that amount - so Kris got to go on a $20 spending spree. Lucky girl!

Show Your Love!

Things are moving along with the ZNE Show Your Love contest!
Prizes and entries are starting to come in. At this point, we have more prizes than entries, so someone is going to be really lucky!
Our two entries so far come from a member who paid a glittery tribute to ZNE on her MySpace blog, and another member who was nominated because of a touching and special post she made about our wonderful group on her blog.
Remember, you can enter as many times as you want, and you can be as creative as you want. We will accept blog or website entries, photos, images, or artwork, or anything else you can think of. Entries will be accepted through December of this year, and in January we will all vote. The winner will be announced on February 14, and they will receive a combined total of over $100 worth of art, art supplies and goodies!
Check out the contest details by clicking the image above. Next month we'll give you a sneak peak at both the entries, and prizes received so far!
Drawings!
Finally, if you want even more chances to win fabulous prizes - then be sure and enter our two drawings this month!
Spirito Di ZNE ~ Leave a Comment, and Win a Prize! (If you win the drawing!) Check out all the details, below:

Prim Launch - and don't forget about our ZNE Style Try Prize of the Month! The Drawing is open from March 1 - 25, 2007!

Thanks again to our drawing prize sponsors this month:

JoAnnA Pierotti
For those of you who have wondering about our dear friend JoAnnA Pierotti, this month marked the beginning of her chemo. She is a fighter and a trooper, and is hanging in there ~ but the effects of Chemo are impacting her, and she is finding that she is very tired and losing her appetite. Please do keep JoAnnA in your thoughts and prayers as she continues battling her cancer.
We do love this picture of JoAnnA - she posted it on her blog, which proves yet again that she is not only brave - but beautiful as well - even with a bald head!

Vickie MacKensie
We could not be more pleased with developments over at B-Muse, and with our dear friend Vickie. As I mentioned last month, Vickie was released from the hospital and continues to recover from her brain aneurism, at home. A few weeks ago, Vickie sent me an email and she said "I am slowly getting back on the computer, thinking is getting easier, just get tired so easy."
So, I know you will join me in extending continued best wishes to Vickie during her continued recovery, and most especially - gratitude for her incredible recovery so far!
[And, for those of you who are wondering - B-Muse, the cat, is doing very well. Still ruling the roost over here, and all who hang out at The ZNE Studios are quite impressed with the way she has taken over!]
Stacey Ballard
We do want to remind you all that another We-Care recipient was added to our list this month:
Stacey is a ZNE Member who was nominated by a fellow ZNE Member, her good friend Julee Herrmann. Julee says this about Stacey:
"Stacey has a terminal liver disease and is awaiting a transplant. The lists are long and the wait is painful for Stacey and her family. Right now she's so easily tired she can't really do much and I know little notes would touch her heart. This woman is my best friend and a ZNE member. She is an amazing artist. Please send your positive energy her way"
Stacey's We-Care alert also comes with a special request to all that you consider the importance of organ donation and discuss this very important issue with your family and loved ones as well.
Please click here to be taken to the Pleasanton Craft Mafia website which houses the ZNE We-Care home page. (This is where you request contact information for our We-Care recipients.)
And, as always if you create art for our recipients, we love to see it. Members may load their We-Care artwork into the gallery you reach by clicking on this line.
Josh Phillips
We also have a very special Art Quilt prize drawing this month. Click on the flyer below to participate.
If you do NOT want your art featured on ZNE...

ZNE takes great pride and pleasure in featuring the extraordinary artwork of our members on our website pages. We always make every effort to contact our member artists and gain permission when using their artwork. LIkewise we credit the artwork to the original artist whenever possible. Unless specific permission has been recieved otherwise, we always acknowledge the fact that the original copyright remains with the artist.
If at any time an artist asks us to remove their images from the website, we make every effort to comply as expeditiously as possible.
That being said, we do realize that some members may prefer to remain anonymous or at least, not have their work considered for features on the website. If this is you - then please click on the banner above and you will be taken to a page where you can register to let us know that you do NOT want your art used for ZNE banners or page decor.
Do you have goodies for us?

I don't know if you noticed, but ZNE has two million and four projects and activities going on! AND we have tons of incredible donors sponsoring our activities and providing prizes. But we always need more! Our activities are always expanding, and most contests repeat every month.
Do you have a product or prize that you would be willing to donate to ZNE? If so, we'd love to hear from you! Click on the banner above to reach our donation page. Check out some of the main categories where we solicit donations, or be creative and think of something new!
Looking forward to hearing from you, and on behalf of all 1,000+ fellow ZNE Members - THANK YOU!
~ MARK YOUR CALENDARS ~
