Laurie Blau-Marshall has been a Supporting Member of ZNE since March of 2006. She joined the inaugural ZNE Design Team in April of 2007. Her work often reflects a thoughtful esthetic and a love of words.
Laurie is a happily married, stay-at-home-mom of one daughter. She readily admits that she is currently fighting a losing battle with the weeds, moss, ivy and slugs in her yard! "In my world view, family, art and reading take precedent over housework any day of the week," Laurie says. She loves to go junking in the fleeting free moments of her life, although, she says her husband and her are considering founding a chapter of Furniture-aholics Anonymous - !
Laurie says that she has been flirting with art all her life, but didn’t commit to it until 1990 when she started making and selling wire-work beaded jewelry. Laurie has sold jewelry at several boutiques in the Seattle area as well as at craft fairs and art shows. She was chosen to be part of a group show at the Stonington Gallery in Seattle where her modern interpretation of the traditional collar style necklace fit right in with the elegant Native American traditional and contemporary art. Since the turn of the century she has been exploring mosaic, sculpture, hand-built pottery and oil painting. Laurie discovered the joy of mixed media and altered art just a year ago and feel I bring what I have learned in other mediums to the worktable. In addition to being a member of the Design Team, Laurie is the Project Coordinator for ZNE's Cercles d’Ame round robin project.
